Catch up day!
It's been a while since I had time to post! So much school work...work...work!
I haven't stop creating though!
After making the frisbees I discovered that the technique I used has an actual name! It's call tapestry crochet and is used by the Guatemalans with roots in the history of the Mayan's!
Exploring this new technique has been fun, but there aren't many pattern ideas out there! I found a pattern called "Horse Around" by Carol Ventura and made a rust and ecru colored purse for my daughter. I also made one for myself in teal and blue. The pattern is free on the internet.
I borrow Carol's book "More Tapestry Crochet" from a library and have been working on her pattern for "Cat's Meow" bag. I corresponded with Carol on Ravelry and she seems like a great lady!
I found a book for beaded tapestry crochet, but for someone as OCD as I am.....no way! It would drive me crazy!!!! If anyone has an patterns I would love to see them. Since I haven't found many, I started graphing some designs and I hope to give them a try soon.

I have made at least 2 dozen of these "Flying J's (I hesitate to use the word Frisbee in case any relatives of the late inventor of the Frisbee, Mr. Morrison, becomes one of my blog followers and I insult them by copying his design). They are crocheted from cotton and are bendable so kiddos can stick them in their jeans pocket to have handy anytime. They are washable and don't hurt when you whack your fingers on them! the lighter green one glows in the dark!

My lovely Rose of Sharon bush and my Candi Dot Lace Shell!
I made the shell from "Relaxed Fashion" out of Caron Spa. If you make it I would suggest using a smaller hook and at least one size smaller than you usually wear!

Surprise Tatted Doily
This doily is a surprise for my basket teacher. She showed me her pretty tatting basket and she had it filled with some tatted edgings that she purchased in Amish country. I thought she should have a pretty tatted doily to put in it!

The beginning
I've done it. I've created a blog using my son's title and my daughter's help & support! Whether I can stay steadfast to updating and maintaining it remains to be seen! I am thinking of this blogspot as a way to share things I've made and that should fill it up! Let me know what you think!
